FUSO Financial gives Angel Transport its wings

For family-owned and operated Angel Transport, brand loyalty, quality, and a flexible finance package have kept the business flying high and leading the way with its award-winning FUSO fleet.

Auckland-based Angel Transport provides general freight services throughout the Upper North Island region, specialising in urgent same-day deliveries, often as a third-party contractor.

Its 20-strong, FUSO-exclusive fleet is a mix of curtainsiders and flat deck trucks, comprising three Canters, 16 Fighters and a second-hand Shogun. The most recent purchase, a new 16T 4x2 Fighter FM1628 curtainsider, reflects the company’s continued growth.

“The mix allows us to be flexible and service a range of requirements,” says Ayna. “My father always says you can never go wrong with FUSO trucks – and so far we haven’t! They are reliable and great value.”

Ayna says the flexible finance solutions provided by Fuso Financial have been key to growth.

“The recession made 2008 a difficult year for us; we had to scale back considerably from the ten trucks we had at the time. But in 2014, we were able to get back on our feet and, with help from Fuso Financial, we started re-investing in the business. After fleeing the 2005 Fijian military coup, Mohammed Shamim put his background in the transport industry to the test and started Angel Transport later that year. Aptly named after his daughter Ayna, who switched her nursing career to join him by his side, the pair have built the business into the 25-strong team it is today.

“I was impressed by how simple the process was. We were able to finance all of our trucks and were given a flexible package tailored to our business.

“Without the great relationship we have with Keith Andrews and FUSO, as well as the excellent finance package they offered to kick-start us, we definitely wouldn’t have been able to achieve what we have – it really gave us the boost we needed.”

Flying high

Angel Transport has since gone on to win ‘Best Curtainsider’ and ‘Best Fleet’ at the Truck and Machinery Show 2017.

“People always say that our truck fleet ‘shines’,” says Ayna. “I take great pride in that. We ensure that all our drivers are well presented and the fleet looks good. I think it says a lot about our business approach and the high standards we maintain.”
